Central Park Zoos New York
Strictly speaking, if you want to go to the Zoo in New York, the Bronx Zoo has over 500 acres of wildlife, but there are treasures waiting for you in the Central Park zoos that you shouldn't miss. The Central Park Zoo is arranged around the pool that the sea lions call home. Outdoor and indoor exhibits feature wildlife from around the world. Many of the animals are in man-made ecosystems that make them feel right at home, and give you a chance to get acquainted. Explore the Tropic Zone and walk through a rain forest. Or watch polar bears swim in the cold waters of the Polar Circle.
If you are traveling with small children, cross 65th street and visit the Tisch Children's Zoo. Here your toddlers can get as close to some of the residents as they dare. Many will even eat right out of the children's hands. (Something to be mindful of before letting your little one wander about with a snack.) Entry to the Children's Zoo is included in the admission price to the main zoo, so come over and pet the animals.
