Hotel Pennsylvania New York Review
Hotel Pennsylvania
401 Seventh Avenue at 33rd St.
New York City
With over 1700 rooms, the Hotel Pennsylvania is one of the largest in New York City. The hotel was built in 1919 by the Pennsylvania Railroad and is located directly across the street from Penn Station. It is difficult to beat the location of this historic hotel. Guests find themselves right in the middle of the bustle of New York City.
This is an older two-star hotel that emphasizes convenience and price. While the rooms may not be as luxurious or the décor as up to date as some of the other hotels in the city, the facilities are more than adequate and rooms are clean and well-serviced. Our advice is to request a renovated room when you make your reservation or at check-in. Or you can upgrade to a Penn 500 room which not only offers more space and more comfort, but gives you free access to the hotel's business center and a complimentary breakfast on weekdays.
The hotel has a small fitness center. Guests who want a more complete workout can purchase a half-price day pass to the Bally Fitness Center right next door.
