The Jewish Museum
This vibrant, two-floor exhibition - on of the largest collections of Judaica in the world - tells a story spanning 4,000 years, from ancient times to the present. It offers an interpretation of two questions: How have the Jewish people survived through the centuries? What constitutes the essence of Jewish identity?
The main exhibition at the Jewish Museum is called "Culture and Continuity: The Jewish Journey" It is an exploration of Jewish culture and history through art, archaeology, ceremonial objects, video, and interactive media. The newly reinstalled "Ancient World" galleries feature archaeological treasures representing Jewish life in Israel and the Mediterranean region, and a new installation of selections from the Museum's renowned collection of Hanukkah lamps from all over the world.
Other exhibitions feature aspects of Jewish life an culture from more recent eras, including an interesting look at Jewish entertainers and comedians from early years of television broadcasting as well as radio.
