The Metropolitan Hotel New York Review
The Metropolitan
569 Lexington Avenue
New York City
Looking like it would be more at home in Miami's South Beach than midtown Manhattan, the Metropolitan hotel has recently undergone a major renovation, restoring the same colors and tropical art deco look that it had when it first opened in 1961. While décor may have a retro look, the amenities are 21st century all the way: including high-speed internet access, cordless phones, LCD flat-screen TVs, slate bathrooms, laptop compatibility, in-room safes, irons and ironing boards and electric hairdryers.
The staff and service at the Metropolitan gets high marks as well. Doormen, bartenders, front desk and housekeeping are attentive and courteous. Should you happen to have a problem they will work hard to rectify it. The concierge is well-informed and ready to handle every request.
A nail salon, hair stylist, newsstand/gift shop, restaurant, lounge, room service and fitness center are all on-site for your convenience.
The Metropolitan is ideally situated near many of New York's major attractions, but its close proximity to a subway station give easy access to the city to those who prefer not to walk.
